2R Vials And Deep Cold Storage - Determining Mechanical CCI Performance
By Riccardo Prete, Product Manager for the Vial Platform, Stevanato Group
In a recent study, the performance of Stevanato Group's 2R Fina glass vials was thoroughly examined in various conditions. The results were promising, as the vials displayed exceptional mechanical resistance and maintained their integrity even after conditioning at -80°C.
To assess the mechanical resistance of the vials, researchers conducted vertical compression and burst tests. Surprisingly, no significant differences in mechanical performance were observed, suggesting that the vials are highly durable and can withstand extreme cold temperatures.
Furthermore, the study also evaluated the container closure integrity (CCI) of the vials using laser-based headspace-gas analysis. Remarkably, all configurations passed the test, indicating that the vials effectively maintained their seal and prevented any leakage.
Review the implications of this study’s findings on the storage of sensitive molecules that require deep-cold storage — such as mRNA and DNA vaccines, viral vector, and gene therapies — and learn how 2R Fina glass vials are poised to revolutionize cold storage practices.
